Christmas Day

In our household Christmas Day isn’t just about celebrating Jesus Christ Birth it’s about the birth of Lucinda Douglas and Tony A. Haynes. Yes, I put their names out there and it is for a valid reason. When my grandmother passed it never registered she was gone until that casket closed. It never registered to me my uncle was gone until that casket closed. It’s the affirmations of reality. It just cannot get any realer than that. On Christmas Day we were missing some valuable people in the family and it just so happened to not only be them. When there is a lost as big as these we tend to forget the reasons for the cookouts, the girls night out, the Sunday dinners, and the huge holiday celebrations. It is about family, holding the family together. Not about feelings or how we feel about them not being there to celebrate. We are suppose to STOP being so SELFISH and think of being with family even if it is one day out of the year. STOP BEING SELFISH it is not about YOU at all but THEM.  Family is going to family whether we like it, love it or hate it. Get over yourself and thing of others. The reason for the season is giving. Get out of yourself for one day and sacrifice all that crying and moping for when you are at home and alone. Stop trying to not face the fact that they are not physically here anymore. Stop trying to save yourself and deal with it. If you cannot deal with on your own seek the Lord first and then seek your family. The same people who have been there for YOU for so many years. The same people who have accepted you for who you are and loved you in spite of what you have done or still do. Come out of that shell and pray for guidance.

This is my story and I’m sticking to it.

Caption: Are hands are lifted in the name of Jesus. These same hands pray for you and these same hands support you even when you don’t want to be supported. Remember that.

"Have WE Loved OURselves First"

I am currently reading a book titled: The Lady, Her Lover, and Her Lord by T.D. Jakes and for it to be such a short book it seems to be the most reality filled book with very short chapters. It is almost a reality check of how much we women look over ourselves to satisfy other people. I once told my mother I cannot date or marry a man who doesn’t have a good relationship with their mother because if he doesn’t have a good relationship with his mother how could he have one with me. But one thing I forgot to add is if he doesn’t have a relationship with God how could have respect for his mother and have faith him the Lord and himself to be able to want to protect and be with me. It is amazing the things we choose to look over day to day that pertain to self.

As established women and as gradually growing women we need to really evaluate our relationships with ourselves. We need to consider that pleasing others is useless we please ourselves whole heartedly and I am not talking about sexually but mentally and emotionally. We choose to please the people around us to make sure that everyone is happy so that our lives could go a little bit easier than with chaos. We pat the heads of those around us to make them feel more comfortable in the environment that we don’t even feel comfortable in. And why do we choose to do that? WE want to make things alright. We are women who want things to happy and clean and clear. But life does not work that way. We have to be workers for Christ and being a worker for Christ involves the whole heart not being able to cover up things and make them alright but to be real. Being real about your own issues and admitting to self what your own faults are. It doesn’t matter to anyone else what they are but God knows and WE should know too. WE need to stop ignoring them and be that REAL female that everyone CLAIMS to be.

We should also think about how much we do for others. Now I am not saying stop being generous or stop doing for others. I am saying think of you. How many times have you actually set in your bedroom by yourself and thought of everything that happened that very day with complete silence? Just meditation. How many times have you actually look a shower before bed and rubbed yourself down in oils/lotion and sprayed yourself knowing that no one is going to be next to you, just you and your pillow? How many times have you actually thought of going to the store just the way you are because you feel like it? Many times when WE dress up, We dress up or put on makeup because WE know that someone is going to see US or WE want someone to see US. That is exactly what I am trying to get us women to think about. How many times do we do things for ourselves? Doing our hair and nails because someone is going to see us is one thing but doing it because you feel like it needs it and you are not going anywhere is another. WE also need to learn how to respect ourselves. One thing my mom always told me is that I am too blunt and too opinionated. The way I represent myself and respect myself is being the person I am. The kettle in this situation is very black because she is the same way but the point is being who you are is showing yourself some respect. Do NOT reach out be someone you’re not because it’s pointless. In the end it will backfire and the personality will bleed when you won’t even understand or know why it’s leaking.

Chocolate Drops: DEATH TO THE CHICKEN LEG

Time to dig in the crates!

Caption: It maybe old as dirt but check this Ms. Peaches had a point. Southern fried chicken is finger lick’n. Considering the fact of where he/she is I don’t want any of hers but I get the idea. Warning: Watch where the hell you eat at because…well it’s obvious. DEATH TO THE CHICKEN LEG.

My mother did my favorite COLLARD GREENS! YES, COLLARD GREENS. BUT she tripped me out when she did southern deep fried chicken LEGS with it. What a way to ruin a southern dinner.
Here is my analysis. I despise chicken LEGS. They are the worst part of the chicken next to the gizzards and the livers. What in the world made her destroy a dinner with chicken LEGS? Chicken Legs taste completely different considering the fact that it is attached to the whole chicken. I promise to you every other piece of chicken; excluding gizzards and livers taste exactly the same. Good!

I have been told that I am crazy and that there is something severely wrong with me but it’s not. I promise you to that there is nothing like the leg it smells different as well and I won’t eat it. I have been told girl you are silly the drumstick is the best part of the chicken. No, No, booboo the best part of the chicken is the wing and there is nothing you can say or do to change that.

Drumettes are different. I don’t know where they come from and I don’t really care but hey they are good when fried hard when they are baked with the right seasoning. Oh yeah can’t forget hot wings. Bae-Bay….

History
Fried has been used to describe black people and also has been used as a racial slur in many situations. The funny thing is fried chicken does not have a race and it is not just a BLACK thing anymore, as it was said to be at one time. I think it is almost a shame how the same people that put us on blast for “creating” and “eating” fried chicken be beating you in the line at Popeye’s or KFC! Don’t get it twisted. Racial slurs and gestures may not be spoken out loud but it still exists. I hear it often just like some of you and it comes from all races and is aimed toward another race.

Bottom line: Chicken Legs are Disgusting
